Merchant Link was very pleased to see Visa’s news today advising that retailers should not retain credit card data for chargebacks and we strongly agree with their position.
This has long been a point of concern for us and a pain point for merchants, in fact we raised it during last year’s PCI US Community Meeting and didn’t get a clear answer from them. So, today’s news that not only establishes their position, but dictates what merchants should do is a welcome change.
Naturally, we were also pleased to see that Visa is encouraging the use of tokenization and has established some general best practices.
